Rules and Regulations

1. Events

 

  • U8 Boys & Girls Foil, Epee 

  • U10 Boys & Girls Foil, Epee & Sabre

  • U15 Boys & Girls Foil, Epee & Sabre

2. Participants

​

  • All participants are welcome.

  • Please note that a minimum of 4 participants per event is required for the particular event to proceed. Should the event be cancelled due to lack of participation, the respective team managers will be notified soonest practicable after the closing of registration.

Please register for the competition with your respective coach or team manager and submit the application online not later than 6.00 pm, 1st November 2019 (Friday)

Your entry is only confirmed once you’ve received an acknowledgement from us. Please check with us within 24 hours should you not have received the acknowledgement.

​

(a) Late entries may be accepted after the closing date, subject to a penalty equivalent to the amount of the entry fee payable and at the DT’s sole discretion.

 

(b) Withdrawal of entry is allowed without additional charge up to the closing date. 

Beyond that date, a penalty equivalent to 50% of the entry fee will be imposed for each withdrawal without an acceptable excuse.

 

(c) With reference to (b), some acceptable excuses may include:

 

  • sudden sickness (with medical certificate to be produced) occurring after the deadline of last entry withdrawal

​

  • sudden suspension from fencing by the school due to reasons such as disciplinary problem occurring after the deadline of last entry withdrawal

 

4. Competition Methods

​

The fencing competition shall be conducted in accordance with the current Statutes and Rules of the FIE.  In case of disagreement in the interpretation of the Rules, the latest English version shall prevail. The Directorie de Technique shall deal with any unforeseen incidents not covered by the Rules.

 

5. Equipment

​

FIE equipment are not compulsory, however, rusty weapons, torn fencing attire and short socks are NOT allowed. Fencer’s clothing must be made of sufficiently, robust material and should be in good condition. An inner plastron is compulsory. Weapons check will be done on the piste before each bout.

Under 8 – Size 3 or smaller

Under 10 & 12 – Size 3 or smaller

Under 15 – Size 5 or smaller

 

Under 8 – Poules 4 points max, 2 min / DE – 8 points max, 2 min X 2
Under 10 & 12 – Poules  4 points max, 2 min / DE  – 10 points max, 2 min X 2
Under 15 – Poules 5 points max, 3 min / DE   – 15 points max, 3 min X 3

 

6. Competition Management

​

(a) Directorie de Technique (DT) : 

The DT shall be responsible for the technical organization of the competition. The decision of the DT shall be final in regards to all protests unless a written complaint is lodged with the Jury of Appeal. 

​

(b) Protest

Competitors should immediately make appeals against decisions of a referee, before any decision is made regarding the subsequent hit.  If the referee should maintain his decision, the complaint shall be brought to the attention of the DT.

​

(c) Jury of Appeal

The Jury of Appeal shall be under the chairmanship of the President of the Federal Territory Amateur Fencing Association and the DT.  The decision of the Jury of Appeal shall be final.

 

(d) Referee

Participating delegations must be accompanied by number of referees   

according to the FIE Rules as follows :

1 – 4 fencers :  0 referee

5 – 9 fencers :  1 referee

10 or more fencers :  2 referees

Note: Please ensure that the referees are to be properly attired with at least collared shirts, long pants and shoes.

 

7. Prizes

​

Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each event.  

​

8. Entry Fees

​

The rate of entry fee per person per event is:

 

FTAFA Member - RM100.00 

Non FTAFA Member - RM120.00

Foreign Participants - USD50.00

 

U8 Events: Participants must be born in 2011 and after.

U10 Events: Participants must be born in 2009 and after.

U12 Events: Participants must be born in 2007 and after.

U15 Events: Participants must be born in 2004 and after.

9. Payment

​

(a) OVER THE COUNTER ON THE COMPETITION DAY AT LEAST 45 MINUTES BEFORE THE SCHEDULED START OF EVENT.

(b) VIA ONLINE BANKING. 

​

Payments must be made to Federal Territory Amateur Fencing Association’s account with Public Bank Berhad or vide Interbank Giro (IBG). Please email all evidence of payment to treasurer@ftafa.org.
